3-(1-Tert-butoxycarbonyl-piperidin-4-yl)-2-methyl-4-oxo-10-oxa-3-aza-tricyclo[5.2.1.0*1,5*]dec-8-ene-6-carboxylic acid (6.6 g, 16.8 mmol) was dissolved in aqueous 37% hydrochloric acid (80 mL) and the resulted solution was refluxed for 3 hours. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was diluted with methanol and decanted in order to obtained the desired product as white solid (3.8 g, 82%).
