Procedure
A solution of 3-bromo-11-oxo-7,8,9,11-tetrahydro-6H-pyrido[2,1-b]quinazolin-8-yl benzenesulfonate (0.15 g, 0.34 mmol, 1 equiv) and excess aq. dimethylamine in acetonitrile (6 mL) was stirred at 70° C. for 3 hours. After it was cooled to rt, the reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×20 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4. After filtration and concentration, the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography to give the desired product.
