Reaction Steps

A solution of 3-(2-bromoethyl)-8-((3-fluorophenyl)ethynyl)-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one (289 mg, 0.78 mmol) and EtONa (208 mg, 3.05 mmol) in EtOH (absolute) was stirred at 50° C. for 3 hr. After the suspension was diluted with water (30 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×50 mL), the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give the desired product, which was purified by column chromatography. MS (ESI): 291 (MH+); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 9.10-9.07 (d, J=7.44 Hz, 1H), 8.44 (s, 1H), 7.76 (s, 1H), 7.42-7.39 (m, 2H), 7.32-7.31 (m, 1H), 7.20-7.17 (m, 2H), 6.86-6.76 (m, 1H), 6.36-6.29 (dd, J=17.65, 1.38 Hz, 1H), 5.50-5.46 (dd, J=11.41, 1.32 Hz, 1H).
