Reaction Steps
To a suspension of (R)-quinuclidin-3-yl 2-amino-2-phenylacetate dihydrochloride (I25) (120 mg, 0.36 mmol) in DCM (6 ml), were sequentially added triethylamine (79 μl, 1.08 mmol) and methanesulfonyl chloride (33.4 μl, 0.43 mmol). The reaction was stirred at RT for 3 hours, and then the volatiles were evaporated. The crude was taken up with EtOAc and washed with water and brine. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated to dryness. The crude was triturated with Et2O to obtain (R)-quinuclidin-3-yl 2-(methylsulfonamido)-2-phenylacetate (38.9 mg; 32% yield).
