Reaction Steps
To a suspension of (R)-quinuclidin-3-yl 2-amino-2-phenylacetate dihydrochloride (I25) (140 mg, 0.42 mmol) in DCM (5 ml), were sequentially added triethylamine (175 μl, 1.26 mmol) and pivaloyl chloride (62.1 μl, 0.50 mmol). The reaction was stirred at RT for 2 hours, and then the solvent was evaporated. The residue was taken up with EtOAc and washed with Na2CO3, water and brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated to obtain (R)-quinuclidin-3-yl 2-phenyl-2-pivalamidoacetate (95 mg; 66% yield).
