A mixed solution of tert-butyl 4-{(Z)-[2-oxo-4-(prop-2-yn-1-ylamino)-1,3-thiazol-5(2H)-ylidene]methyl}piperidine-1-carboxylate (14.0 g) and 4M hydrogen chloride/ethyl acetate solution (80 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was washed with ethyl acetate to give the title compound (12.7 g).
