Procedure
Into a 50 ml round bottom flask was combined 7-benzyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[3,4-d]pyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (0.125 g, 0.411 mmol), C-cyclohexyl-methylamine (0.010 g, 0.88 mmol), and methanol (10 ml). The mixture was heated at reflux for 24 hrs. The mixture was allowed to cool, reduced in vacuo, and purified by flash chromatography using a methylene chloride:methanol gradient (0-10%). The combined fractions were reduced in vacuo to yield the title compound. (0.0177 g, 10.9%).
