6-chloro-N-[(2,4-dimethylthiazol-5-yl)methyl]-5-methyl-2-methylsulfanyl-pyrimidin-4-amine F4 (1.36 g, 4.32 mmol) was placed in a 250 mL flask and diluted with dichloromethane (100 mL). To the resultant slurry was added mCPBA (1.49 g, 8.64 mmol), and the solution was stirred for 1 hr. 1 N aqueous NaOH (100 mL) was then added, and the organic layer was separated and concentrated in vacuo to give 1.3 g (87%) of F5 as a white foam. MS (Electrospray): m/z 347.8 (MH+).
