Reaction Steps

A mixture of 2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropanehydrazide (1.04 g, 4.37 mmol) and 4-fluorophenyl isothiocyanate (1.34 g, 8.73 mmol) in EtOH (30 mL) was heated at reflux 2 h. The reaction mixture was cooled and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was triturated with Et2O. The solids were collected by filtration and dried in vacuo to give 2-(2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropanoyl)-N-(4-fluorophenyl)hydrazinecarbothioamide (1.23 g, 72%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 9.70 (br s, 1H), 9.65 (br s, 1H), 7.38 (b, 1H), 7.17 (t, 3H), 6.94-6.82 (m, 4H), 3.73 (s, 3H), 3.71 (s, 3H), 1.52 (s, 6H).
