This compound was prepared according to the procedure C from methyl [2-methyl-4-p-tolylbenzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl]acetate (0.150 g; 0.415 mmol), LHMDS 1N in THF (0.462 mL; 0.462 mmol), 1-iodopropane (0.066 mL; 0.677 mmol) in DMF (6 mL) for 3 h. Purification by flash chromatography on silica gel using a gradient of ethyl acetate (5-30%) in heptane furnished 0.126 g (75%) of the title compound as a colorless oil.
