Reaction Steps
Add 4.20 gm of 2-cyano-4,6-dihydro-3H[2]benzopyrano[3,4-b]-pyridin-3-one to 50 gm of pyridine. Add 3.0 ml of triethylamine to the system. Cool the system to 0°-5° and treat the system with hydrogen sulfide gas until the reaction is complete as indicated by thin layer chromatography. Isolate the title compound.
