Reaction Steps

A solution of (2S)-2-{{[4-(4-(dimethoxymethyl)piperidin-1-yl)benzoyl]-amino}-4-methylpentanoic acid ethyl ester (0.163 g, 0.4 mmol) in methylene chloride (3 mL) and trifluoroacetic acid (0.210 mL) was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with methylene chloride and washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate, brine, and dried (Na2SO4). Removal of solvent in vacuo afforded the crude aldehyde which was used directly in the following step.
