A solution (2S)-1-[4-(4-{[((2R)-2-hydroxy-2-{4-hydroxy-3-[(methylsulfonyl)-amino]-phenyl}-ethyl)amino]methyl}piperidin-1-yl)benzoyl]-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (0.072 g, 0.12 mmol) in methanol (2 mL) and 1N sodium hydroxide (0.37 mL) was stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was neutralized with 1N HCl (0.37 mL) and concentrated in vacuo. The residual solid was washed with water, then ether to give reasonably pure product (0.082 g).
