Procedure

A mixture of 2-chloro-4-[1-(3-fluorophenyl)-3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]pyridine (Example 47; 0.48 g, 0.0017 mol) and 3-(aminomethyl)pyridine (10 mL) was heated at 190° C. overnight (about eighteen hours). The reaction mixture was cooled, treated with copious amount of water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated and the crude was purified by chromatography on silica gel (ethyl acetate/triethylamine, 99:1) to give 0.35 g (60% yield) of product as a yellow oil: Anal. Calc'd. for C21H18FN5: C, 70.18; H, 5.05; N, 19.49. Found: C, 69.78; H, 5.35; N, 18.87.
