Procedure
2-Bromo-1,3-cyclohexadione prepared in Example 1, Route 1 (A) was reacted with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole in the same manner as that of Example 1, Route 1 (B) to give 1,2-dihydrobenzimidazo[2,1-b]benzothiazole-4(3H)-one (Compound (IIb) of Reaction Scheme II), which was subjected to bromination in the same manner as that of Example 1, Route 1 (C) to give 3-bromo-1,2-dihydrobenzimidazo[2,1-b] benzothiazole-4(3H)-one hydrobromide. The hydrobromide (1.45 g) and thiourea (0.15 g) were placed into ethanol (50 ml), and the mixture was heated to reflux for 2 hours, cooled, and the filtered to give the titled compound (61%).
