Procedure

Compound 1a, 9.90 g, obtained in Example 1 was dissolved in a solvent mixture of 200 ml of methanol and 20 ml of water and 2.70 g of sodium hydroxide was added to the solution. The mixture was heated under reflux for 2 hours. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure and the resulting residue was dissolved in 200 ml of water. A pH was adjusted to 1.5 with 4N hydrochloric acid aqueous solution. The crystallized crude product was taken out by filtration and dried. The crude product was recrystallized from 300 ml of isopropanol to give 6.44 g of the desired compound.
