tert-Butyl cis-hexahydropyrrolo[3,4-b]pyrrole-5(1H)-carboxylate (550 mg, 2.60 mmol), prepared as described in (U.S. Pat. No. 5,071,999) and 2-chloro-5-iodopyridine (660 mg, 2.76 mmol), prepared as described in (Tetrahedron Lett. (1993), 34, 7493-7496), were processed as described in Example 1E to provide the title compound as a tan foam (750 mg, 89% yield). MS (DCI/NH3) m/z 324, 326 (M+H)+.
