(E)-Ethyl 3-(1-(4-methoxy-2,6-dimethylphenylsulfonyl)piperidin-2-yl)acrylate (1.28 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (20 ml), the mixture was degassed with argon and Pd(OH)2 (125 mg) was added. Hydrogenation was then carried out under normal pressure for 4-6 h. After thin layer chromatography control, the reaction mixture was filtered over Celite and the residue was rinsed with methanol. The filtrate was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. Yield: 89%
