Reaction Steps
50 g of 3,5-dichloro-2,6-difluoro-4-hydroxybenzoic acid and 10 ml of dimethylformamide are mixed, and the mixture is heated. At 105°-130° C., carbon dioxide is evolved, and the mixture is allowed to react at this temperature until the reaction is complete. 200 ml of toluene and then 80 ml of water are subsequently stirred into the mixture, the phases are separated, and the organic phase is dried and subsequently distilled. This gives 34 g of the product having a boiling point of 87°-88° C. and a refractive index of nD20 : 1.5310.
