Reaction Steps
To a solution of methyl 4-[N,N-bis(2-cyclohexylethyl)carbamoyl]-5-(2-naphthylsulfonyl)pentanoate (150 mg) in ethanol (3 ml) was added a 1N sodium hydroxide solution (0.26 ml), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo, acidified with a dilute hydrochloric acid, extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water, dried over MgSO4, and evaporated at reduced pressure. The residue was recrystallized from ethyl acetate-hexane to give 86 mg of 4-[N,N-bis(2-cyclohexylethyl)carbamoyl]-5-(2-naphthylsulfonyl)pentanoic acid.
