Procedure
4.0 g of 4-chloro-4,4-difluorobutyryl chloride are added dropwise over the course of 30 minutes to a solution of 2.6 g of cyclohexyl mercaptan and 4.5 g of pyridine in 50 ml of toluene at 0° C. The reaction mixture is stirred at RT for 16 hours and then diluted with 150 ml of diethyl ether and subsequently washed with 50 ml each of 1N HCl, saturated NaHCO3 and saturated NaCl solution. The organic phase is then dried over MgSO4, filtered and evaporated. The resulting crude product is distilled at +90° C./5 mbar. 3.8 g of S-cyclohexyl 4-chloro-4,4-difluorothiobutyrate are obtained as an oil, nD23 : 1.4748.
