Reaction Steps
After 8.5 g (0.00385 mole) of the indolinone derivative obtained in the above Reference example 18 were dissolved in 60 ml of dimethylformamide and 1.92 g (0.00502 mole) of sodium hydride (a 62.7% mineral oil dispersion) were added to the solution under argon atmosphere under ice cooling, the mixture was stirred at 5° C. for 20 minutes. Next, to the mixture was added 13.6 g of dibenzyl azodicarboxylate, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured into aqueous ammonia-ice, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with water and then with a saline solution, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. Ethyl acetate was removed under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent:ethyl acetate:hexane (1:3 to 1:1 v/v)) to obtain 20.4 g of the title compound as a colorless caramel-like product.
