Reaction Steps
In 5 ml. of water is dissolved 0.56 g. of potassium hyroxide and a solution of 1.52 g. of 5-chloro-4-(2,6-dichlorobenzoyl)-1,3-dimethylpyrazole in 10 ml. of ethanol is added thereto. The mixture is heated under reflux for 12 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture is allowed to cool and extracted with benzene. An aqueous layer is separated and 2N HCl solution is added to adjust the pH to 3-4, whereby crystalline substance is separated out. The resulting crystalline substance is recovered by filtration and recrystallized from ethanol to give 0.68 g. of the desired product as colorless needles melting at 249.5°-250.5° C. Yield 48.0%.
