Reaction Steps

Acetyl chloride (9.5 g, 0.12 mol) was added to a -10° C. methylene chloride (50 mL) solution of compound 7 (2.0 g, 4.0 mmol). Triethylamine (12.3 g, 0.12 mol) was added dropwise with vigorous stirring of the reaction mixture. After the addition was complete, the resultant suspension was stirred for an additional 2 h at room temperature and then washed with H2O. The organic phase was separated, washed with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (CH2Cl2 :MeOH/99.5:0.5) to afford 700 mg (36%) of the title product.
