Reaction Steps
11,22,33-Tris(benzyloxy)-12,15,23,26-tetraoxo-11,16,22,27,33-pentaaza-2,5,8-trioxatritriacontane (21) was prepared by adding excess TFA to (20) (2.05 g, 2.16 mmol) in CH2Cl2 at 0° C. The solution was stirred at room temperature and worked up by the method of (9) to give 1.91 g (quantitative) of (21) as a waxy solid: NMR δ 1.18-1.70 (m, 12 H), 2.32-3.33 (m, 18 H), 3.39-3.80 (m, 14 H), 4.64 (s, 2 H), 4.80 (s, 2 H), 4.87 (s, 2 H), 6.23 (br s, 2 H), 7.2-7.4 (m, 15 H). Analysis: (C46H67N5O10.H2O) C, H, N.
