A suspension of 7.0 g. of the product from Example 4, 500 ml of absolute methanol, and 18.4 g. of concentrated sulfuric acid is stirred and heated under reflux for 48 hours. A clear solution forms after that heating period. The solution is concentrated in vacuo, the residue is cooled, dissolved in 200 ml of ether, and the ether solution is washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate until the washings remain at pH 7.6. The ether solution is dried an concentated to give the named compound.
