Procedure
To a 0.4 g. portion of 1-(3-p-fluorobenzoylpropyl)-4-(4-methyl-2-thiazolyl)pyridinium chloride, prepared as described in Example 4, in 20 ml. of methanol is added portionwise with stirring 0.4 g. of sodium borohydride. The mixture is stirred for 2 hours and then poured into water causing the formation of a white solid which is separated and recrystallized from acetone and water, m.p. 89°-90.5°C.
