Procedure
Following a procedure similar to that described in 3A but employing 6.5 g. of 85.9% sodium p-toluenesulfinate, 4.6 g. of 1-ethyl-2-methyl-1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde and 3.8 g. of 1-ethyl-2-methyl-1H-indole there was obtained 4.5 g. of 3-[(1-ethyl-2-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)(4-methylphenylsulfonyl)methyl]-1-ethyl-2-methyl-1H-indole, m.p. 146°-152° C.
