Reaction Steps
5 mg (0.2 mmol) NaH is added to a solution of 70 mg (0.173 mmol) 3-[2-(4-isopropyl-phenyl)-7-methoxy-1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-1H-benzoimidazol-4-yl]-phenol in 2 ml DMF. This mixture is stirred at room temperature for 1 h. After that 28 mg (0.207 mmol) 2-(bromoethyl)-methyl ether is added and stirring is continued for another 3 h. The reaction mixture is poured on water and extracted (3×) with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers are washed with water (2×) and brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue is purified by flash-chromatography on silica gel (hexane:EtOAc=3:1) to afford 70 mg of the title compound as a colorless oil.
