Reaction Steps

To a cooled solution (ice bath) of phenol (7.2 mg, 0.077 mmol) in 1 ml DMF, NaH (3.1 mg, 0.077 mmol, 60% in mineral oil) is added and the reaction is warmed to RT. Methanesulfonic acid 4-bromo-2-(4-isopropyl-phenyl)-7-methoxy-1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-1H-benzoimidazol-5-ylmethyl ester (30 mg, 0.059 mmol) is added and the reaction mixture is heated to 60° C. for 1 h. After that the reaction mixture is extracted with sat. NaHCO3-solution and diethyl ether. The combined organic layers are washed with water and brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue is purified by flash-chromatography on silica gel (hexane:EtOAc=1:1) to afford 28 mg of the title compound as pale yellow crystals.
