A mixture of 3-bromo-4,5-bis-(3-methoxy-benzyloxy)-benzaldehyde (143 mg), 3-aminocrotonitrile (28 mg), 5-propylcyclohexane-1,3-dione (52 mg) in ethanol (10 ml) was stirred at 80° C. for 17 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by chromatography on silicagel in heptane/ethyl acetate 1/1→2/8 (v/v) as eluent.
