To a mixture of 9-butyl-6,9-dihydro-5H-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]purin-5-one (65 mg, 0.28 mmol) in THF (2 mL) was added N-bromosuccinimide (49.8 mg, 0.280 mmol). The mixture was heated in a microwave reactor at 70° C. for 10 minutes. The mixture was purified with prep LCMS to give the desired product (4.8 mg, 6%). LCMS calculated for C10H12BrN6O (M+H): 311.0. found: 311.0, 313.0.
