The mixture of 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-N′-[(2E)-6-oxo-3-pentyl-1,3,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-purin-2-ylidene]acetohydrazide (0.66 g, 1.4 mmol) in toluene (30 mL) was refluxed overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated to give the crude product as a solid. The solid was washed with ethyl acetate and dried to yield the desired product (490 mg, 92%). LCMS calculated for C19H23N6O2 (M+H): 367.2. found: 367.2.
