2-(Methylthio)-3-pentyl-3,7-dihydro-6H-purin-6-one (5.0 g, 0.020 mol) was mixed with 100 ml of 28% ammonia hydroxide in a seal tube. The mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 4 days. After cooling to room temperature, the solid was filtered and dried to yield the desired product (3.0 g, 68%). LCMS calculated for C10H16N5O (M+H): 222.1. found: 222.1.
