Hydrazine (0.3 mL, 9.6 mmol) was added to a solution of benzyl 4-[3-cyclopropyl-1-(ethoxycarbonyl)-3-oxopropyl]piperidine-1-carboxylate (186 mg, 0.48 mmol) in acetic acid (7 mL). The reaction mixture was heated at 50° C. After 1 h, the reaction mixture was concentrated. The residue was diluted with dichloromethane and neutralized by saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate. The mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (3×), and the combined organic extracts were dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated to give the title compound. MS 356.2 (M+1).
