Lawesson's reagent [2,4-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-dithia-2,4-diphosphetane-2,4-disulfide] (649 mg, 1.61 mmol) was added to a suspension 3-allyl-6-(2,3-difluorophenyl)azepan-2-one (426 mg, 1.61 mmol) in toluene (10 mL). After 3 h, the reaction mixture was heated to 45° C. After 30 min, the mixture was concentrated in a cold water bath. Purification by silica gel chromatography (100% hexanes→70% hexanes/ethyl acetate) gave the title compound (257 mg). MS 282.1 (M+1).
