A mixture of 2.00 g (0.0066 mole) of 2-carbamimidoylsulfanyl-3-oxo-3-(2-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-propionamide in 80 mL of ethanol was heated to 60 degrees for overnight. The mixture was concentrated under reduce pressure. Purification of the residue by chromatography on C18-reverse phase silica gel, eluting with water-acetonitrile (gradient 100:0-50:50) gave 1.32 g of 2-amino-4-(2-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid amide (V.17) as a yellow solid.
