Reaction Steps

To a solution of the product from step 2 (0.12 g, 0.21 mmol) in methanol (5 mL) was added NaOMe (25% in MeOH, 0.23 g, 1.1 mmol) at 0° C. and stirred at room temperature for 4 h. After the methanol was removed, the residue was partitioned in EtOAc/H2O, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to yield the title compound (0.1 g, 90%). 1HNMR (CDCl3) δ 1.40 (s, 9H), 2.10 (s, 3H), 2.81 (m, 2H), 3.05 (m, 1H), 4.11 (m, 1H), 4.01 (br, 1H), 4.66 (m, 1H), 6.91 (m, 4H), 6.98 (s, 4H), 7.14 (d, J=8 Hz, 2H), 7.27 (d, J=8 Hz, 2H), MS m/z 427 (M−100).
