(E)-4-{2-[(5-Methyl-furan-2-ylmethyl)-amino]-quinolin-5-yl}-but-3-enoic acid methyl ester (290 mg, 0.86 mmol) was dissolved in 45 mL ethanol. Palladium on charcoal (10%, 92 mg, 0.086 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture war hydrogenated with a hydrogen balloon overnight. The palladium was filtered off and the solvent was evaporated. The title compound was obtained as a brown oil (256 mg, 88%), MS: m/e=339.1 (M+H+).
