Procedure
Following the general procedure for the preparation of azides of Description 16, ethyl (2R/S)-4-[(3-chloropropyl)sulfonyloxy]-2-[(4-methoxyphenyl)methoxy]-3,3-dimethylbutanoate (23a) (0.31 g, 0.71 mmol) dissolved in 10 mL of anhydrous dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was reacted with 0.11 g (1.8 mmol) of sodium azide (NaN3). After work-up, the crude title compound (23b) was used in the next step without further purification. MS (ESI) m/z 466.07 (M+Na)+.
