Reaction Steps

Fuming nitric acid (3 ml) was added to N-(3-fluoro-4-(5-oxotetrahydrofuran-2-yl)phenyl)pyridine-2-carboxamide (600 mg) obtained in (step 4), and the reaction liquid was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. With cooling with ice, aqueous saturated sodium bicarbonate was added to the reaction liquid to make it basic, and extracted with ethyl acetate. This was dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, then the solvent was evaporated away under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was washed with chloroform/hexane mixed solvent to obtain the entitled compound.
