To a dried 20 L three-necked flask equipped with a thermometer controller, a mechanical stirrer, and a dropping funnel protected under nitrogen was charged 1200 g (1R,2S,3R)-1-(2-(isoxazol-3-yl)-1H-imidazol-4-yl)butane-1,2,3,4-tetraol and 14000.0 g (11.7×) of water. The mixture was heated to 90-97° C. until the solid was dissolved completely. After polish filtration, the solution was cooled to 15-20° C., filtered, washed with 1200 g (1.0×) of water and 1200 g (1.0×) of ethanol, then dried under vacuum at 40-45° C. to yield 980 g of captioned compound as a white solid.
