Hydroxylamine (50% w/v aqueous solution) (0.669 mL, 10.13 mmol) was added to a stirred suspension of 1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-b]pyridazin-6-yl)piperidine-4-carbonitrile (2.5 g, 8.44 mmol) in ethanol (16.88 mL) and the suspension was stirred at ambient temperature. Additional hydroxylamine (50% w/v aqueous solution) (3 mL) was added and stirring was continued for 18 hours. The mixture was then heated for 1 hour. The precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with EtOH and ether and dried under vacuum to afford N-hydroxy-1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-b]pyridazin-6-yl]piperidine-4-carboximidamide (2.380 g, 86%) as a colourless crystalline solid.
