Reaction Steps

A solution of Boc-Leu-Gly-Gly-Ala-Gly-OMe (2.0 g, 4 mmole, described in Example 10) and hydrazine hydrate (4.12 ml, 80 mmole) in methanol (50 ml) is stirred at 0° C for 4 hr. The solution is concentrated to 4 ml and added to diethyl ether (200 ml). The precipitate is collected, dissolved in methanol (4 ml) and added to diethyl ether (200 ml). The precipitate is collected and dried to give the title compound; mp 174° - 176.5° C; [α]D24 = -12.0° (c = 1, dimethylformamide).
