42.3 Grams of methyl Boc-L-tyrosyl-D-alanylglycinate is dissolved in 200 ml of methanol and 200 ml of a 1 N solution of sodium hydroxide is added. The reaction mixture is allowed to stand for 30 minutes, then is adjusted to pH 3 with a 1 M solution of potassium bisulfate. The resulting precipitate is collected by filtration, washed with water and dried to give Boc-L-tyrosyl-D-alanylglycine.
