Procedure

2-(3,4-Methylenedioxyphenyl)vinyl 1-methylcyclopropyl ketone [III; Ar is 3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl, R is CH3 ] was prepared from 25.6 g. of 1-methylcyclopropyl methyl ketone and 9.3 g. of piperonal according to the procedure described above in Preparation A1, affording 29.5 g. of crystalline product.
