Methyliodide (47 μl, 0.6 mmol) is added to a stirred solution of 1-triphenylmethyl-5-methoxycarbonyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine (288 mg, 0.75 mmol) in chloroform (5 ml), in a round bottom flask with a septum, at room temperature. After 12 hours stirring the solvents are evaporated in vacuo giving 395 mg (100%) white crystals identified by 300 MHz nmr.
