Procedure
Two grams (0.0053 mole) of [(3,4-dichlorophenyl)sulfonyl][(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]methane and 300 mg (0,005 mole) sodium methoxide were reacted in 100 ml of methanol. The reaction mixture was stirred for ten minutes at room temperature, and the methanol was evaporated. Ten to fifteen ml of water were added and the solution was filtered into a solution of 1.4 g (0.0058 mole) levamisole HCl in 50 ml H2O. The precipitate which immediately forms was collected and washed in isopropanol to obtain the desired product. The solid was analyzed by NMR and elemental analysis, which confirmed the formation of the levamisole salt, m.p., 109°-112° C.
