Reaction Steps

To the ester from Step 2 (145 mg, 0.33 mmol) in 3 mL THF and 3 mL MeOH was added 2N NaOH (1 mL, 2 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at r.t. for 16 h. Excess 0.5N citric acid was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4 and evaporated. Purification by flash chromatogrpahy on silicic acid (20% to 40% ethyl acetate in hexane) provided 99 mg of the title compound.
