Charge 4-[1-[2-(benzyl-methyl-amino)-ethyl]-4-(3,4-difluoro-phenyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.8 g; 0.0035 mol; 1.0 equiv) in ACN (40 mL) under nitrogen and add benzyl chloroformate drop wise at 0° C. Stir the reaction for 30 min and bring to RT. Stir at RT for 1.5 h. After completion, quench the reaction with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution and extract in EA. Wash with water and brine, dry over anhydrous sodium sulfate and evaporate off the solvent under vacuum. Purify on silica column using 15% EA/hexane to get the title compound (1.6 g; 82%).
